#mbfa Muscle Burns Fat Advanced - Results

I did it!!  I worked out every single day for 6 weeks!  I am so proud of myself and have really found a level of self esteem that has been hiding behind my sadness and inactivity - I feel about 50% back to normal!

Muscle Burns Fat Advanced is a three-week muscle building program that I gave my initial reactions of HERE.  Also, ya know, if you want to sign up for Beachbody On Demand – you can follow my affiliate LINK and I’ll get $10. Woot!

This program was HARD.  If I hadn't already completed two programs (21 Day Fix & 9 Week Control Freak), I would have repeated #mbf Muscle Burns Fat at least one time before moving on to the advanced program.  Megan is a big fan of asymmetrical moves and they were pretty complicated in #mbfa.

I had to modify a couple of the moves to accommodate my low back issues.  There was a single dumbbell snatch where you lifted the weight with one hand from the floor, pressed it up over head and then exploded in to a split squat stance.  I did a couple and could tell that my low back was not happy.

Also, the Core Circuit workouts were insane - and I did NOT get all of the moves done.  She goes from the floor to planks and back so quickly - my chubby bunny body doesn't go that fast, lol.

I do think that the last week of this program was right on the borderline of good sense for me.  I work full time outside the home and take nine credit hours at State College -- so I have to have my sleep and nutrition about 95% perfect to maintain all that I do (I am also 45 years old!).  In the last week of the program, things started to unravel a little and I found myself not feeling very well this past weekend.

No big deal - a little rest and a lot of water and I'll be in good shape in no time.

So - here are my results for the 6 weeks of the combined regular and advanced programs:

Weight change - 6 pound loss

Waist - 1 inch loss

Hips - 1 inch loss

I noticed my collar bones!  I guess they are still in there.  I also noticed definition in my shoulders that wasn't there before.  I've been working out consistently for about 4 months - and am finally building muscle.  It certainly takes longer than they make it seem on the infomercials.

I can do a side step through!!  Okay - when I first saw her do this, I was like "hmph, no f'ing way I can to THAT."  But, I decided to try it and by the end of the week, I was DOING IT!  My hip mobility has improved sooo much - I can't quite do the front step through version on both sides, but I'm working on it!

Things I did in addition to working out every day:

Still getting my steps in.  Even if I have to walk on the treadmill when I'm studying to get it done - I do it.  I had a 14 day streak of 10,000 steps at one point!

Still staying hydrated.  I'm drinking about 90-100 ounces of water each day.  It's harder when the weather is cooler - our office is so cold and it's hard to drink cold water when you're teeth are already chattering.

Still tracking my food on MFP.  I made the 10 pounds lost mark and the program reduced my calories by 100 per day.  So...trying to stick to 1600 calories with a 40/30/30 split for macros (carbs, fat, protein).  I usually try not to eat back my exercise calories, but damn I was hungry last week.

Still trying to go to bed on time.  This is where things unraveled for me in week three.  I started having some night wakefulness and worry sessions again. I don't know why my brain does that sometimes - let's hope I'm not on the cusp of another bout with insomnia.  She's mean and usually wins for a time.

So, there ya go!  I really really loved this program.  The instructor, the music, the cast...not to mention the strength and flexibility gains!  I would totally do this whole 6 week program again.

Next, I'm moving on to 30 Day Breakaway, which is an intermediate running and strength training program.  I haven't run in two years...here's to getting back to the good old days!
