#mbfa - One Week Review
#mbfa Muscle Burns Fat Advanced, is a 3-week muscle building program from Beachbody On Demand. For a more detailed product page, please visit my affiliate link HERE.
This program follows the same format as #mbf Muscle Burns Fat, with the addition of the Megan Minute. After the set, we perform one move for a whole minute. Is a minute a long time? YES.
The workouts are a little longer this time around, with the weight training days clocking in around 40 minutes and the others still around 25-30. This series is truly an extension of #mbf with the same sounding workouts laid out in the same order every week. We use the same equipment, dumb bells and a mat for floor work (if you are in the basement, like me) and the Bod Ropes. These are just a style of indoor jump rope and are not essential to the program, in my opinion. There are many styles and colors available on Amazon.
This program is definitely a step up from #mbf. I feel like Megan's entire program could have been one 6-week program, but for marketing purposes was split up in to beginner/intermediate and advanced 3-week blocks. That said, I really like that aspect. When I completed the first 3-week portion, I felt so accomplished! Now that I'm one third of the way through the second 3-week portion, I'm feeling really proud.
I've been pushing myself to continue handling heavier weights than I think I can. Some of the moves in the EMOM (every minute on the minute) are hard to do quickly like the cast is doing them, but that's okay. I can only do "me" - not them! I'm picking up 15lb weights for most leg and back exercises, and that's making me so strong!
I was really tired this week. One thing that factors in no matter how we try - life. I received shot 1 of 2 of the Maderna COVID-19 vaccine the day before I started this program. I felt a little queasy that next day, but I pushed through. I didn't miss any workouts this past week, but boy was I tired. My Garmin shows what they call Body Battery - and I wasn't even charging properly during the night. I was starting the day at 40% power and struggling to make life happen! I'm glad that I got (partially) vaccinated - but I really hope that I don't react anything like that the second time around!
Very happy with this program. There are three 10-minute add on workouts - abs, upper body and lower body - but at my fitness level, that just seems like torture. Maybe next time I tackle this program, I will feel I can handle an add-on - but for now I'm just really proud of myself for doing these workouts at all!
